Volunteer Positions with Inland Empire SHRM

Looking for ways to gain leadership or non-profit business experience? IE SHRM has a great opportunity for you. We’re looking for Volunteer Leaders to join the IE SHRM Board of Directors!

What does it take to be a board member? A desire to advance the HR profession in the community, to engage with your fellow board members and chapter members, a willingness to share your knowledge and ideas, motivation to see ideas through to implementation. A desire to learn more about the functioning of the chapter.

Volunteer Leaders can earn up to 10 (PDC) recertification credits per year and attend programs and events for free.

Current Board Roles Available

Programs Chair—Sources speakers and presentation topics for HR professional development. Serves as resource in arranging webinars, locations and resources for chapter events. Ensures venue, equipment, materials and supplies are available and set up for each event.

Sponsorships Chair—Engages sponsors for chapter events that assist the chapter financially in return for an opportunity to promote their product or service to members.

Emerging HR Professionals Chair—Oversees the EHRP Program by promoting engagement between IE SHRM chapter members, EHRP and new HR professionals; organizes events and presentations to assist in HR professional development.  

 

 

 

Non-Board Volunteer Opportunities

Not sure you have much time to volunteer? Consider volunteering for a committee or helping out at an event. Most chapter volunteers contribute 2 to 8 hours per activity. Chapter committee volunteers help chapter leaders make decisions and develop plans. Chapter event volunteers provide support at meetings or events to help with registration, distributing materials, setting up rooms or greeting attendees. You can earn professional development or recertification credits by volunteering.

Chapter Volunteer (non-board role) - Participates in special chapter projects on a short-term basis, based on the needs of the chapter, and the interests of the participant. May participate as a committee member or provide support at events or meetings.

Most areas require a time commitment of about 8-10 hours per month. In order to be eligible for a Volunteer Leader Board Role, you must be a current national SHRM professional member AND designate Inland Empire SHRM as your primary chapter. In addition, some positions may require that applicants are active human resource practitioners, with certain levels of HR experience due to the nature of the responsibilities.

MANAGEMENT ANALYST I – MANAGEMENT SERVICES
San Bernardino County Transportation Authority (SBCTA)
San Bernardino, California
Salary $ 55,146 - $ 82,719 per year plus benefits

Under general supervision, participates in a wide variety of human resources programs including recruitment, employee benefits, human resources information systems, classification/compensation, leave management and training and development. In addition, provides analytical and project support for miscellaneous SBCTA tasks and functions as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in business or public administration, human resources, preferably in the public sector, or a related field AND at least one (1) year of analytical or administrative experience in a field closely related to the area of assignment.

Licenses and Certifications:
Designation from the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) or International Public Management Association of Human Resources (IPMA-HR) is desirable.
