Volunteer Positions with Inland Empire SHRM

Are you excited about HR? Would you like to participate in advancing the HR profession? Inland Empire SHRM currently has open board positions and volunteer opportunities for innovative and energetic individuals that are interested in giving back to the profession.  By volunteering with your local SHRM chapter, you can earn up to 10 (PDC) recertification credits per year.

Current Board Roles Available

Secretary—Executive Board Officer Role. Maintains chapter records and history. Ensures parliamentary procedure is followed according to chapter bylaws. Acts as repository for all chapter policies and standard operating procedures. Prepares the official minutes of all officers' and directors' meetings and regular chapter meetings.




Non-Board Volunteer Opportunities

Not sure you have much time to volunteer? Consider volunteering for a committee or helping out at an event. Most chapter volunteers contribute 2 to 8 hours per activity. Chapter committee volunteers help chapter leaders make decisions and develop plans. Chapter event volunteers provide support at meetings or events to help with registration, distributing materials, setting up rooms or greeting attendees. You can earn professional development or recertification credits by volunteering.

Chapter Volunteer (non-board role) - Participates in special chapter projects on a short-term basis, based on the needs of the chapter, and the interests of the participant. May participate as a committee member or provide support at events or meetings.

All positions require active SHRM membership, and IE SHRM chapter designation. In addition, some positions may require that applicants are active human resource practitioners, with certain levels of HR experience due to the nature of the responsibilities.

The Human Resources Generalist carries out a broad range of human resources responsibilities including benefits administration, COBRA, leave administration to include FMLA, recruiting and staffing, affirmative action plan administration and management, records management, timekeeping, workers’ compensation, drug testing, training and development, employee relations, payroll, and HRIS administration. While this position is located at our facility in Adelanto, CA, it reports to the Human Resources Department at the corporate office in Vancouver, WA and is part of the Corporate HR team. It also maintains a strong dotted line reporting status with the Operations Manager at the facility.
